In the 79th of the Liberation in Carpi

To celebrate the 79th anniversary of the liberation from Nazi-fascism, various initiatives are planned in the city, organized both by the Municipality and by private entities.

OFFICIAL CEREMONY

On Thursday 25 April the official ceremony, accompanied by the “Città di Carpi” band, will begin at 10:00 in the urban cemetery, with the laying of a wreath at the Shrine of the Fallen. At 10.15am in the Resistance Park the new “Monument to the Resistance”, a work by Mauro Milani, will be inaugurated: 25 butterflies in flight, on a 4-sided base 1945 millimeters high, to remember the historic date in numbers. The morning will continue in Piazza dei Martiri, with the traditional procession and institutional interventions at 11 am.

CONCERT IN THE SQUARE

From 4.30pm, still in the square, “Constellation 25 April. Bright and shining since 1945”, “concert” offered by the Municipality: Nada will open (4.30 pm), with Andrea Mucciarelli on guitar. Vasco Brondi will follow, who will host Dario Brunori, Francesca Michielin, Massimo Zamboni, Silvia Ballestra and Paolo Cognetti on stage. With Brondi will play Andrea Faccioli and Riccardo Onori (guitars), Niccolò Fornabaio (drums), Carlo Maria Toller (piano and bass) and Clara Rigoletti (violin and keyboards). Free entry. Gates open: 3.30pm.

OTHER APPOINTMENTS

  • SATURDAY 20th – “Traces of History, streets of Memory”, itinerary in the historic center on the sites of the Second World War, starting in front of the Town Hall at 3pm, organized by the Fossoli Foundation and Anpi. At 4pm in the Torre dell’Uccelliera the exhibition “Le mille Emilia” of the Lugli school of S. Croce opens (then can be visited the following day from 4pm to 7pm, and on the 25th from 10am to 1pm).
  • SUNDAY 21st – “Pedalata della Memoria”, from 8.30 am, with departure and arrival in Piazza dei Martiri, organized by Anpi Carpi, Fiab Modena and CGIL District of Carpi.
  • MONDAY 22 – At 6.30 pm, in the “Loria” auditorium, presentation of the book “L’invasor”, by Franca Gualtieri, who will talk with Alessandra Burzacchini. Free admission. At 10pm, “Nottambula – Sul far della Resistenza” returns from Piazzale Re Astolfo, a singing procession around the city with the “Violenti Piovaschi” choir and other groups.
  • THURSDAY 25 – At 12.15pm Liberation lunch at the Guerzoni and Barbaro clubs (Cortile).
