Waste management, Abruzzo Region revokes authorization for Terraverde – Notizie d’Abruzzo

The Abruzzo Region revokes the authorization of Terraverde Energy srl, a company that manages a non-hazardous special waste recovery plant in Città Sant’Angelo. Over the years, the structure has been affected by several fires – the most serious in 2011 and the latest in recent months – so much so that the Municipality, in 2023, expressed its opinion against the renewal of the authorization and the mayor, Matteo Perazzetti, on several occasions he had underlined the need to provide for the revocation. He revokes it which now comes as a result of a decision from the Waste Management service of the Abruzzo Region. “The company Terraverde Energy srl – we read in the provision of 17 April – is not currently in possession of the required suretyship guarantee and, as a result, the effectiveness requirements of the authorization no longer apply”. Considering that the company “has not observed the imposed requirements”, the resolution continues, “the conditions for proceeding with the revocation are met”. The issue concerns the lack of the “required surety bond”. The resolution cites the correspondence between the Region’s Waste Management and Reclamation Service and the company Terraverde Energy Srl relating precisely to the transmission of financial guarantees and even speaks of a “counterfeit policy” presented by the company, which, therefore, “cannot be accepted by the regional administration”.
