Emilio Milani appointed Commander of Merit of the Italian Republic

VILLANOVA DEL GHEBBO (Rovigo) – “It is an honor for Villanova del Ghebbo to have among its fellow citizens the Emilio Milani, just appointed Commander of Merit of the Italian Republic“. The news was welcomed with joy by the municipal administration, citizens and athletes of the small Polesine municipality.

“It is a recognition of the history of the Polesine and Italian territory” notes the mayor Gilberto Desiati. “This honor goes to reward Mr. Emilio Milani for the merits acquired for his entrepreneurial activity, for the commitment he has carried out in the associative, sporting and social life carried out and which he continues to carry out in the municipal area. Then he is a footwear entrepreneur: a sector that is a bit of the history of the municipality of Villanova del Ghebbo”.

In fact, the commitment, constancy and tenacity that characterized Emilio Milani’s personal, family and entrepreneurial life fully represent that generation of men and women who at the end of the Second World War, after having suffered the scourge of the flood of 1951, as a displaced person he was able to lift himself out of poverty through the sacred value of work, the founding brick of the Italian Republic as stated in the first article of the Constitution “Italy is a democratic Republic, founded on work”.

Thanks to commitment and perseverance, from a simple journeyman he managed to found a family business together with his beloved wife Assunta Furin. After 50 years the company is still growing, and features three generations of the Milani family. Work and family were the values ​​that guided the life of Mr. Emilio Milani. After working as a worker for about 10 years, he started the business together with his dear wife Assunta Furin, who passed away a few years ago. Today, 50 years after the establishment of the first company, together with his children and grandchildren he runs an international company that collaborates with the most prestigious “signatures” in fashion. It can be said that entire families have worked and work within the company for generations, contributing to the well-being of the area. Furthermore, he was among the promoters of the footwear training activities, which the municipal administration under the guidance of Gilberto Desiati organized at the former middle school through four courses which led to the hiring of the young people trained thanks to the youth guarantee. His contribution to associations is important. First as president of the fair committee and always symbol of the ASD Villanovase 1929 since its establishment together with his friend Antonio Vigna with which he led the football team to victory in the second category championship this year.

The Mayor concludes “the recognition of Commander it will be delivered by the Prefect of Rovigo Clemente Di Nuzzo on April 25th at 5.30 pm in Villanova del Ghebbo during the ceremony naming the park after Giacomo Matteotti. It is important to associate this recognition with Liberation Day. Thanks to the Liberation of 25 April, the birth of the Italian Republic was achieved which recognizes work, in the sense of personal and collective commitment to improve Italian society, as the only honorific title, eliminating any other noble title”.

As soon as he received the news, Commander Emilio Milani expressed gratitude to the Prefect. Citizens will be able to celebrate it on April 25th at 5.30 pm in the green area near the sports hall in Via Donatori di blood where the youth wind orchestra of the F. Venezze conservatory of Rovigo will perform on the occasion of the dedication of the Park to Giacomo Matteotti.
