Vinitaly: from Verona to the world

The fifty-sixth edition of the event concluded on Wednesday in Verona Vinitaly, which began on Sunday 14 April. It is an annual event that allows you to discover the wine of wineries from all over Italy and the entire wine business at 360°.

Vinitaly is the event that has marked the evolution of both the national and international wine system, making wine one of the most interesting and captivating realities of the primary sector.

The fair was born in 1967, when the Italian wine days held between 22 and 23 September in the Gran Guardia palace (VR) officially marked its birth.

Over the years the event continues to grow and mature, growing and changing. In 2004 the internalization phase began and Vinitaly also reached countries such as China and Russia; to then even arrive in the United States a few years later with the Vinitaly Word (2013).

In 2016, on the occasion of its first 50 years, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will inaugurate the edition for the first time in the history of the fair.

This year, in Verona, the main location was at VeronaFiera, in Viale del Lavoro 8, but the air of Vinitaly hovered throughout Verona with stands and exhibitions spread throughout the historic center.

The city is easily reachable via connections by plane (Valerio Catullo Airport), by train, on the motorway (A22 Modena/Brennero motorway and A4 Milan/Venice exit Verona south – direction, center exit Verona north – direction center) and even by camper, thanks to the rest points equipped with drainage and toilets and showers in the Porta Palio Camper Area (Via Luigi Piccoli, Verona).

For years, Vinitaly, with an intense program of trade fair events, presentations and roadshows abroad, has been a point of reference for the wine sector. The fair is for everyone: exhibitors who want to offer their products to operators in the field, both Italian and international professional operators and, finally, all wine lovers who want to experience and discover the emotion of Vinitaly in the heart of Verona.

Vinitaly and The City is the perfect opportunity to be enchanted by the beauty of the city, rich in culture and history. Fuori Salone 2024 offered four days of tastings, meetings and events in the heart of Verona. This year held from April 12th (6pm-11pm) to April 13th (3pm-11pm).

First Vinitaly wine exhibition

With 16.50 euros you received a free glass, 4 tasting tokens (for wine or mixology tastings at the Vinitaly and the City stands in Piazza dei Signori, Cortile Mercato Vecchio, Cortile del Tribunal, Torre dei Lamberti), an experience token valid for free entrances or discounts for special initiatives during the days of the event and access to the event lounges.

The stands were set up in the most iconic places in Verona. Piazza dei Signori hosted the Grande Enoteca of the Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Delle Venezie and the most accredited bartenders of the moment. In the Courtyard of the Court the food and wine journey continued with a selection of wines curated by Gambero Rosso, the Sicily Region and the Rice Fair, with its wine-based risottos. Cortile Mercato Vecchio, on the other hand, has transformed into a tasting hub between tasting stands in the Calabria and Marche regions, accompanied by products from the Fior Fiore Coop line. Meanwhile, the participants were able to attend the Wine Talks conducted by the oenologist and wine popularizer Sissi Baratella. Finally, at 84 meters high, on the Torre dei Lamberti it was possible to toast in the highest lounge in Italy, combining the pleasure of a good glass of wine with a breathtaking view.

The 2009 edition

It is an event with an Italian flavour, but spread throughout the world thanks to the Vinitaly Around the World initiative.

The next appointments are, in fact, in Chengdu, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Xian, Guangzhou, Chicago and Belgrade.
