Naples, identity card required: ten days for the appointment

From Children’s City to the former Corradini passing through the various projects financed with the Pnrr up to the new spaces and services a Bridges. There are various urban regeneration interventions that will change the face of different areas of Naples East after decades of stalemate and degradation and which, in the next three years, will have a decisive push in order to respect the expected deadlines. Times and challenges are further marked by the Integrated Activity and Organization Plan 2024-2026, just approved by the municipal council led by Gaetano Manfredia sort of compass for local administrators, managers and employees of Palazzo San Giacomo.

2024 is the decisive year to complete the redevelopment which affects part of the Città dei bambini, the former school in via Cleopatra in Bridges where a theater and spaces for workshops have been set up: the works, blocked for years, resumed in 2023 and will allow part of the structure to be returned to the very young people of the so-called “district of Roman villas”, the complex of popular buildings located in front of theSea Hospital. Even shorter deadline to improve the municipal headquarters of San Giovanni a Teduccio after reports of dangers and lack of safety on the part of the workers: the construction site must be closed by 16 June in order to respond to the ASL’s requests. Another objective to be achieved by the end of the year is service request for electronic cards at the offices in Naples East: in this sense the VI Municipality provides for “respect for a maximum time of no more than ten days between the date of booking and the appointment at the counter”.

Efforts are also being made to reduce the time required for changes of residence and to expand the opening of demo-registry offices to the public “in parallel with the progressive computerization of services”. The detailed plan also includes services relating to neighborhood libraries Ponticelli, Barra And San Giovanni a Teduccio with the aim of obtaining a satisfactory result from at least 90 percent of users interviewed. The indicator is valid if at least 320 people for each library correctly fill out the questionnaire: the number of valid responses increases to 360 over the next two years.

2025 should be the turning point for Pru Ponticelli, the urban recovery program that affects many areas of the populous neighborhood. The Municipality, in fact, intends to launch tenders for the works in four so-called sub-areas which correspond to as many soils to be regenerated: starting from the land stuck between via Napolitano and via Coppi, between via Argine and via Califano, the one along via Malibran and and finally, the one between Viale Miranda and Viale Aldo Merola. The same year will be decisive in completing the demolition of a first part of the two-storey buildings of Ponticelli, the asbestos containers in Via Fuortes: a project financed with Metropolitan City funds but not yet started due to the presence of families awaiting the planned new homes. with the Eco-neighborhood project financed by the Pnrr. And again next year, the redevelopment works will be carried out on part of the municipal headquarters of Ponticelli and, in particular, of the northern building of the property in Piazza Michele De Iorio. The possible turning point also concerns the Corradini of San Giovanni a Teduccio, the former industrial plant along the coast, for which overall recovery is planned: in particular, work will be done on the executive design for the restoration of the industrial archeology buildings which have long been prey to of vandals and criminals and ruined by wear and tear and bad weather.

The start of the substantial works among the former warehouses now reduced to ruins is scheduled for 2026, a fundamental year for closing the Municipality’s projects financed with the Pnrr which in East Naples concern the districts of Taverna del Ferro, via Fuortes and via Scarpetta and the sports citadel in via Ulisse Prota Giurleo, or the outdoor swimming pools and pitches that have long been denied to most people.

New homes and spaces, green areas, sports facilities. New and old works to be returned to the community over the next few months, responding to the needs of people of all ages and the necessary redevelopment of many long-forgotten corners.
