GROSSETO – Yet another epic adventure by Guido Petrucci and Carlo Luschi. The two standard bearers of the Grosseto Triathlon have undertaken a breathtaking journey along the Via Francigena, starting from the picturesque city of Lucca and ending in the majestic Rome, in St. Peter’s Square. Armed only with courage, determination and their gravel bikes loaded with bags containing the bare minimum, the two athletes immersed themselves in an experience that mixed the spirit of exploration with physical and mental challenge.

With almost 450 kilometers to cover and a total difference in altitude of over seven thousand metres, each pedal stroke represented an achievement over oneself and the terrain. Passing through enchanting places such as San Gimignano and San Quirico, passing through the picturesque Bolsena and many other points of interest along the way, Petrucci and Luschi had the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in the beauty and history of Tuscany and Lazio.

During their journey, Guido and Carlo found refuge and rest in the hostels marked along the route, meeting other travelers and sharing stories of similar adventures. Each day brought new challenges and new discoveries, as the landscape changed around them and their legs faced challenging climbs and dizzying descents.
Finally, with hearts swollen with satisfaction and legs tired but satisfied, Petrucci and Luschi reached their final goal: the magnificent St. Peter’s Square in Rome. Here, they were able to collect the famous travel scroll, a tangible symbol of their incredible journey along the Via Francigena. Their adventure was not only a test of physical endurance, but also a journey of personal growth and connection with the history and beauty of their country.
