The prize

The Prize of narrative journalism Alessandro Leogrande -organized byPresidia del book association with the support of Puglia region and of Edison Next, is a journey that takes place from September to April each year. The books selected by the candidates of the previous edition make up a shortlist of five titles, and are sent to the garrisons throughout Italy who express their willingness to participate and to the Apulian schools participating in the project “Tell me about journalism”. Over the course of these months, the principals and schools read the texts and express their vote, granting individual preferences: the former assign the “Alessandro Leogrande Award”the seconds the “Student Award”.

The schools that have already participated in the vote, after having followed a masterclass Annalisa Camilli, produced an investigation/narrative reportage. Annalisa Camilli will decide the best work, which we will discover during the awards ceremony.

The novelty this year is that the schools met online with all the authors of the five books in competition and compared themselves in inter-school reading groups.

The Award is designed with the aim of keeping alive the passion and memory of Alessandro Leograndejournalist and writer who died prematurely, who dedicated much of his work to dealing with civil, environmental and social issues, linked to the territory that saw him born, the city of Taranto, and then extended his gaze from Africa to the Balkans , to the point of embracing the entire world.
