Campania, Oliviero: “Youth Forum should establish a commission on the Southern Question”

“Create a commission in the Forum on the Southern question, have the courage to do it. If you help us put the wounds of the South back at the center of the political debate, you will be doing a good service to yourself and to those like you who remain in our territory”. Thus the president of the Regional Council of Campania Gennaro Oliviero spoke at the opening of the work of the Regional Youth Forum which took place in the “Siani” hall of the Council.

“How many years ago the Southern question disappeared and the Northern one appeared which was the expression of a new political force, now the time has come to return to protecting the citizens of the South. This is politics, helping people and representing their interests – continues President Oliviero – according to recent statistics, the population of the South has two years less life expectancy, it is a serious problem and it is necessary that we continue to think about the issues of the South to bridge the gap between North and South, you young people do it too”.

Regional councilors Bruna Fiola and Luigi Cirillo as well as deputy Piero De Luca also spoke during the Forum. The debate was moderated by Nicola Grifo from the presidential office of the Regional Youth Forum who, together with president Giuseppe Caruso, managed the work of the meeting. “The challenge is to put the citizens of Southern Italy in the same conditions as those who live in other parts of Italy and Europe, but to do this we need to invest in work,” declared Piero De Luca speaking of Differentiated Autonomy.

For the regional councilor Bruna Fiola, young people must feel involved in major national issues, such as abortion: “The presence of Pro life associations within the counseling centers will bring us back – she declared – it is not a year of free diapers that determines the a woman’s choice.” For councilor Cirillo “the experience of the Forum gave me the opportunity to take part in the political life of the Region at just 28 years old, with great emotion”.
