FLORENCE – The OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) chooses Florence to celebrate 100 years of life. And it does so with a unique event in Italy, a meeting organized by the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine (Aivv) which will be held on Tuesday 23 April at the Accademia dei Georgofili.
The title of the initiative, which will start from 10 am and end in the afternoon, is “A century of international scientific comparison for the progress of vineyards and wine in the world”.
As the president of the Academy, Rosario Di Lorenzo, explains, «we promoted this initiative with the Accademia dei Georgofili for information purposes. The conference aims to be a tribute to the history of the OIV, founded on 29 November 1924 by the will of Italy and seven other countries in giving a significant and harmonized response to the crisis in the wine world of the time”. And, continues Di Lorenzo «over the course of a century, the Italian delegation has made a fundamental contribution to the growth of the Organization, actively participating in the creation of relevant norms and standards in the viticulture and oenology sector, as well as holding various institutional positions inside”.
Present at the meeting will be, among others, Massimo Vincenzini, president of the Georgofili Academy and Federico Castellucci, honorary general director of Oiv as well as Luigi Moio president of Oiv and Eugenio Pomarici of the University of Padua who are entrusted with the moderation and conclusions of the work.
