Spadoni (LpRa): Circonvallazione San Gaetanino, a two-speed road

“Via San Gaetanino, the old internal ring road of Ravenna, runs from the traffic light with Via Maggiore to the intersection of Via Sant’Alberto where a second traffic light is operational. As is known, this is a particularly difficult road narrow that runs close to homes and commercial activities, always very busy but paradoxically the opposite situations often occur. That is, the main feature that distinguishes it is the long snake polluting cars almost always in double rows which it flows at a walking pace. Reason why there is no shortage of rear-end collisions, precisely due to the very low speed: these are frequent blockages partly due also at the aforementioned traffic lights That regulate traffic and at the same time they block the normal traffic flow. The situation is destined to worsen especially on rainy days.

Then there is the flip side of the coin. At certain times of the day and especially during the night the road turns into a real racetrack, particularly in the straight stretch near two roads, via Berti and via Testi Rasponi, which merge into the ring road in question and continue towards the aforementioned intersection of via Sant’Alberto. Cars and motorbikes whiz by at high speed along this straight and cause accidents, and on many occasions they collide with cars parked on the side of the ring road or collide dangerously with road curbs. An extremely dangerous and particularly noisy situation, especially during the night hours. For this reason, systems aimed at better control of the territory are needed to prevent accidents preventing, at the same time, disturbances during the night. Better supervision by the municipal police accompanied by the installation of suitable deterrents would make circulation more peaceful by avoiding, moreover, unpleasant noises at night.”
