Lifestyle: Trentino at the top in almost all levels

The province of Trento confirms itself as one of the more virtuous realities in terms of healthand, as highlighted by Istat’s 2023 Bes (Equitable and Sustainable Wellbeing) Report.

With 5 out of 15 indicators reached at the maximum level, together with Bolzano, we are among the best realities in the country. The report offers an in-depth analysis of well-being levels, trends and inequalities across 12 different areas.

As regards health, Trentino recorded the highest life expectancy at birth in Italy in 2023, equal to 84.6 years, compared to the national average of 83.1 years. (The worst campaign of all with 80.9)

Also regarding life expectancy “in good health“, we are at the top, second only to the Province of Bolzano. Although people from Trentino have the longest lifespan of all, South Tyrol’s live in “good health” in terms of years, with around 80% of the years of expected life in South Tyrol spent in good health, compared to 76% in Trentino.

The results relating to the index of mental health are very positivewith Trentino ranking second only to the province of Bolzano.

Also regarding the avoidable mortalityour province stands out for being the best in Italy, with only 15.1 deaths per 10 thousand residents in the 0-74 age group, well below the national average of 19.2.

Also for cancer mortality (20-64 years) the results are excellent, with only 5.9 deaths per thousand inhabitants compared to the Italian average of 7.6.

Regarding correct lifestyles and healthy eating, the people of Trentino demonstrate that they are sensitive to the health benefits. Only the 37% of Trentino adults are overweight/obesecompared to the national average of 44.6%.

The rate of sedentary lifestyle is also low, with only 14.8% of Trentino adults, second only to South Tyroleans, compared to the national average of 34.2%.

Furthermore, 22.4% of Trentino people follow a balanced and balanced diet, compared to the 16.5% of the Italian average. Overall, 73% of the indicators ci places it in a medium-high well-being class, while for the quality of social, health and welfare services we are in first place nationally for residential beds and number of nursing staff, but at the bottom for the number of doctors.
