Iti Da Vinci in the final of ‘F1 in School’ with the Gear Gurus team

Saturday 13 April the two teams of the ITI Leonardo da Vinci of Carpi Leonardo’s Wings And Gear Gurus participated, accompanied by the profs. Monia Mussini, Gianluigi Mazzeo And Luca Bertoliat the prestigious F1 in Schools competition at the Ferrari track in Fiorano Modenese.

After the good result of the qualification phase, where the students of the three third classes of the mechatronics course managed to move on to the semi-final round, a great deal of work was done on the machines and on the preparation of the business simulation in English. A month later Leonardo’s Wings And Gear Gurus they showed up on the Fiorano track with their 3D miniature cars powered by compressed air to travel the 24 meter track as fast as possible and their portfolios, further revised and improved.

At the end of the day the team Gear Gurus came fourth, thus earning the right to advance to the national finals which will take place in Varano de’ Melegari on 16 June, while the Leonardo’s Wings team placed seventh.

F1 in Schools is a multidisciplinary challenge where teams of students use CAD/CAM software to design, produce, test and then race miniature cars powered by compressed air. The ultimate goal is to introduce them to technology, engineering and mathematics through a fun learning environment to develop a more transversal vision on their future careers in Engineering, Formula 1, science, marketing and technology.
