Civitavecchia – “My party has asked me to take a step back and I therefore renounce my candidacy for the second term as mayor of my beloved city”. The decision of the current mayor of Civitavecchia arrives. Ernesto Tedesco renounces running for a second term, and he himself announces it.

“I do so with conscious respect for the political role – continues Tedesco – which is the basis of our administrative experiences, confirming my profound and unquestionable attachment to the League, a party for which I will continue to always be available, thanking it for the opportunity that it has given me was offered to live this important experience.
In fact, it was an infinite honor for me to represent my city despite the difficulties that no mayor had ever had to face as he has in these five years. Covid, the impact of the war, the need to start from scratch with much less time available to administer, particularly after the impact of the epidemic, the inherited difficulties of CSP, the proposed decommissioning of the power plant, the retirement of dozens and dozens of employees: these are just some of the complex events that I have had to support and face.”
Despite this: “And yet, I leave much that I can continue to work on. The many open construction sites resulting from projects developed in recent years, starting with Via Cesare Battisti which was closed for five years, the former Terrazza Guglielmi, closed since time immemorial, the many asphalted roads (I haven’t found one in order), the works in neighborhoods, the procedural agreement with the System Authority for the acquisition of Italcementi with the financing of 35 million euros, which will finally ensure the creation of the Porto-A12 link road, relieving the city of traffic.
Furthermore, the many other loans received in addition to those of the Pnrr and the agreement with Adsp for the elimination, among other things, of the Vespucci passage with the return of Forte Michelangelo to the city fabric, the acquisition of Borgata Aurelia, the in the safety of the subsidiary for the protection of many families at risk, the arrangement of schools, the revolution of the local public transport, the adaptation of public lighting with Enel the cultural activity, the work in concert with the other mayors for the prospect of a province in which Civitavecchia can have a great role”.
All collected in Tedesco’s last act: “Reading the end-of-term report which will soon be published will be able to offer an even more complete dimension of the great work done and of a city that is certainly better than I found it.
I bring with me an exciting wealth of experience and the infinite pleasure of having shared my daily life also and above all with my fellow citizens”.
The decision after the other candidate in the centre-right was made official: “I wish sincere good luck to Massimiliano Grasso, candidate of the centre-right coalition chosen by FdI and Lega, certain that it will be able to continue to govern our city and complete the path virtuoso designed and built to date.
For my part, all the commitment to the coalition itself and to my city, for which I intend to continue working. A heartfelt thank you to my fellow citizens for the support, for the affection, but also for the observations, for the criticisms and for the patience. At the end of these two months of administration I will have the opportunity to thank those who concretely and with their work shared this experience with me, the offices and my splendid collaborators”.
