The Isola di Procida ferry hits the dock in Naples, injuring around thirty people

There are around thirty people, none in serious condition, injured in the accident which occurred in the port of Naples where the Isola di Procida ferry of the Caremar shipping company arriving from Capri hit a quay at Molo Beverello. There were several hundred passengers on board, including many foreigners. Several injured people were assisted by 118, some were transported to the nearest hospitals. At the moment of impact, upon arrival at the port, the passengers were almost all standing and some fell due to the impact.

Based on the update of the medical bulletin provided by the ASL Napoli 1 Centro, a total of 29 people were injured in the accident which occurred in the port of Naples. Maxillofacial trauma, multiple contusions and injuries are the diagnoses for passengers accompanied to hospital.

“We are carefully following the developments of the accident that occurred in the port of Naples, during the mooring phase of the ‘Isola di Procida’ ferry at the Molo Beverello. I express solidarity and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured people. As MIT we monitor the evolution of the situation and are constantly in contact with the competent authorities, in particular with the Port Authority of Naples which is carrying out all the appropriate checks”. These are the words of the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Tullio Ferrante.
