Coscioni Association: tomorrow in Alessandria DAT desk and bench inauguration

ALESSANDRIA – Tomorrow, Saturday 20 April, a double event will be held in Alessandria promoted by the Cellula Coscioni Alessandria, the local branch of the Luca Coscioni association for freedom of scientific research.

Starting from 4.00 pm, the bench “adopted” by the association and dedicated to the themes of freedom of choice and rights will be inaugurated in the station gardens (Corso Crimea, in front of the Court).

In the same place, volunteers and experts will offer consultations on the subject of DAT (Advance Treatment Directives), also called living wills, until 7pm. Citizens will be able to request information, collect information material and forms to fill out to choose in advance which health treatments to accept and which not, in the event that one day they are no longer able to express their wishes.

“This is a right conquered after years of battles that began with Piergiorgio Welby and continued with Beppino Englaro alongside his daughter Eluana and many other people, up until the decisive civil disobedience of Marco Cappato with DJ Fabio. – explains the association – However, it is a right that few people still know today: in fact the information campaign foreseen by law 219/17 has never been carried out and many are unaware of the importance of this tool, which allows us to avoid others having to decide for us, with the burden that may result.”
