Discovering the parks of Arezzo riding a pony

The first outing of the project “Discovering the city parks on the back of a pony” organized by the ASD Scuderia Pan with the patronage of the Municipality of Arezzo, the CONI and the Committee will be held on Sunday 21 April at Villa Severi from 4pm to 6pm Fise Tuscany. The other dates will be May 5th at Pertini park, May 19th Villa Severi, September 29th Pertini park, October 20th Pionta park, October 27th Villa Severi, November 3rd park between via dell’Acropoli and via Anconetana and November 17th Pertini park.

The project will take place on Sunday afternoon to give children and young people, without exception, the opportunity to discover the greenery of the city parks on the back of a pony. The children will be put on the ponies, with a sort of “saddle baptism”, accompanied by qualified FISE (Italian Equestrian Sports Federation) instructors. There will also be an equestrian rehabilitation technician to allow children and young people with disabilities to have this experience.

The project has several objectives, as underlined by the sports councilor Federico Scapecchi himself.

“What I liked most about the project – he says – is the valorization of public parks and the possibility for children to become familiar with a particular animal, which is not a simple cat or dog that they may have at home. The pony requires a adequate approach and a lot of respect. It is not a bike or a motorbike that you turn on, turn off and put in the garage. The horse is not an object, but a sentient being that has an important educational aspect. Furthermore, riding for free for children in the parks is an added value for families and for the valorization of the green areas themselves, given that it will be a traveling event that will take place throughout the year. will move from one place to another.”

“The provincial CONI enthusiastically sponsors the project “Discovering city parks on the back of a pony” promoted by the Pan stable – says Arezzo delegate Alberto Melis – because it represents a model of promotion and inclusion of basic sporting activity. In fact, in a natural context, such as that of city parks, we intend to allow anyone to experience the thrill of going on a horse ride for free and especially the little ones who will have the opportunity to spend fun and educational moments. The inclusive value of this project because thanks to instructors with specific skills it will be possible to share this experience with young people with disabilities. Arezzo has a strong connection with the world of horses and this initiative will certainly contribute to spreading knowledge of the equestrian world and bringing young people closer to this. extraordinary scope”.

“An initiative that we fully support – declares the president of Fise Toscana Stefano Serni – to promote the sport of horse riding among children and young people. Too often underestimated especially from the point of view of its educational qualities. By riding a horse the child learns that in this sport the combination counts, that is, how much he and his pony are united, how much they can do together and always with the utmost respect for animal welfare.”

“A sport that no longer wants to be elitist – says Sonia Fardelli president of the ASD Scuderia Pan – but which can be practiced by any child. All you need is wanting to spend a few hours in the open air and agreeing to get a little dirty to look after the ponies”.
