From today, 127 low-emission vehicles are also operational in the province of Lucca, in addition to the electric tricycles and quadricycles already present in the area for the delivery of parcels and correspondence.

The new supply is made up of four-wheeled vehicles, including cars and vans equipped with latest generation endothermic engines: methane, hybrid and full electric engines.

Thanks to these new means, from today also in the Lucca area the mail travels completely “green” during the entire delivery process. The new vehicles in the Poste Italiane fleet have been modified and made functional to the needs of the postal service; for example, in some cars, the passenger seat is equipped with a particular arrangement for housing the boxes or particular shelving for the transport of parcels. Still others have ad hoc accessories for Poste Italiane’s mission, such as the Keyless Entry&Start system for remote driver recognition. Thanks to this technology, the doors and tailgate unlock automatically, making the operators’ work easier.

The renewal of the company fleet from a sustainable perspective is part of the new 2024-2028 industrial plan: “The Connecting Platform” which aims at the transformation of logistics and the evolution of a commercial model at the service of customers, with the aim of looking at a new segment made up of small and medium-sized businesses contributing to the end-to-end logistical development of a postal network and a network increasingly driven by parcel management.

A further step forward for the group led by CEO Matteo Del Fante towards achieving the goal of carbon neutrality 2050.
