FIB – Italian Bowls Federation – Puglia: “Open University”

Bowls are also involved in the mission, coordinated by Elisa Palma, among the various activities proposed by the Pro Loco of Gallipoli and sponsored by the Municipality.

The project, called “Open University”, is aimed at the elderly and tailored to the wisest people of the citizenry, a true universe of cultural, artistic, recreational, experiential and sporting activities to which all citizens can have access to draw on new notions and learn new techniques at any age.

Mayor Stefano Minerva was present and, greeting everyone present, underlined the importance that this initiative represents for the city and the community.

The FIB, represented by the President of the CR FIB-Puglia Fernando Calzolaro, joined the initiative, proposing the federal project “Active Aging”, presented in the last national consultation.

The project includes courses, without distinction of gender, using the Petanque specialty, to be carried out in an itinerant manner in the Gallipoli squares and the Beach Bocce specialty, considering the wide availability of lidos and beaches in the area, with the help of the professional figures of the Specially trained CRs (1st level FIB instructors).

Right from the start, those present at the press conference showed enthusiasm for participating in the course, which will begin in May and end in November, according to a program to be agreed with the COL.

President Calzolaro, at the end of his speech, concluded with the hope that, at the end of the course, in addition to having given the opportunity to gain knowledge of our discipline, we can establish a point of reference for our activity in the Gallipoli area, where no there are affiliated companies.
