“Solidarity and sport, close to the community”

A sports center at the service of the community, with the commitment of 1400 members to promote a better city. The watchword for the Polisportiva San Faustino, which will blow out 100 candles next year, is service: towards the neighbourhood, towards the most vulnerable people, towards the people of Modena. A team effort that allows us to do a lot for Modena and which sees at the forefront the commitment of the president Pier Nicola Tartaglione (in the photo below), who has been at the helm of “Sanfa” for many years; with him we took stock of the situation, also in view of the next local elections: “Without a shadow of a doubt there is great interest in sports clubs, which wasn’t there years ago – stated President Tartaglione – The board of directors and the 1400 members have realized the importance we have in the social reality of Modena, and the professionalism we put into play every day is contributing to improving the neighborhood: we do not work exclusively towards the members, but starting from them we reach out to each individual resident.

Our immense spaces are used by many associations that deal with the most needy, such as Caritas and Aut-Aut; the sports spaces guarantee 400 football sector members the opportunity to train on a state-of-the-art pitch, while over 700 Artistic Gymnastics students use our beautiful gym equipped with cutting-edge equipment.

We have built the first comics library in Modena, with over 5000 author catalogues, and a community nursing clinic, opened by the local health authority, which offers free consultations thanks to the professionals who work there, from the orthopedist to the urologist.

The great strength of the Polisportiva is that it represents a meeting point for the elderly and young people of the neighborhood, who meet and can spend time together.

I believe that Mayor Muzzarelli has done well during his mandate, and we ask the future council to continue to support the work of us sports clubs, who spend every day serving the citizens”. When asked about the situation in the neighborhood linked to the thorny issue of security, President Tartaglione explained the operational method implemented by the Polisportiva San Faustino to stem delinquent situations within public spaces: “Among the members we asked ourselves how to improve the situation in our area relating to criminal episodes: we then gathered the support of over 40 volunteers who take turns monitoring the hottest areas of our neighborhood every day and reporting dubious incidents which, thanks to the timely intervention of the police, can be promptly averted. Even in this case it is clear how community work bears important fruits for the city.”
