The second phase of ‘Give us your story’

The second phase of “Give us your story” will begin in the week of April 22nd, the research project for stories from the past by the “Augusto Marinoni” civic library and the group of bibliovolunteers launched at the end of March. The initiative, which is part of the program of the Centenary of Legnano Città, is aimed at creating a “short” that will collect voices, faces and testimonies of an important glimpse of the city’s history from the twentieth century up to the threshold of the seventies through stories lived or handed down which talk about work, habits, loves, leisure, families and holidays.

“Give us your story is an initiative that well summarizes our way of understanding participation and cultural activity – comments Guido Bragato, Councilor for Culture. In about two years, a small group of library users was born and raised group, that of bibliovolunteers, now numbering around fifty members, who not only participate in the proposed activities, but also play a role in the conception and co-planning phase of some initiatives, just like in this case. it is also the case for how its final product is conceived, because it is the daily stories, those of well-known people as well as those of perfect strangers, that will make up the story of Legnano summarized in the short film, therefore, a voice – we hope the as faithful as possible – of a community that in those years was building the growth of a reality sanctioned by the recognition of the title of City which arrived in 1924”.

A few days before the closing of the deadline (20 April), around fifty applications have been collected (around twenty of these concern people hospitalized in the Accorsi RSA where bibliovolunteers carry out cultural animation activities) which, from next week, will be examined by the group of work made up of library staff and bibliovolunteers themselves. Starting from May, the bibliovolunteers will begin interviews with the candidates by welcoming them into the library, or going to their homes, whether these are in private homes or in the Accorsi RSA. For these trips, the bibliovolunteers will use an electric vehicle made available by the technical sponsor of the initiative, the Rezzonico Auto Group.

“For over twenty years we have been alongside the Municipality in the most important cultural events such as the Palio – underlines the owner of the Group, Vittorio Rezzonico; for consistency we certainly could not miss a historic event such as the Centenary, the occasion in which Legnano celebrates its century from the City. Still in the cultural field, we will be partners of Opera in piazza. In this case we have chosen the latest electric Fiat model, the Seicento, which implements a philosophy of sustainable mobility in a historical phase marked by the energy transition process”. The interview phase will conclude by June, followed by editing; the “short” return event will be held in autumn.
