RFI, work completed: the Pescara line is back in operation

From tomorrow afternoon traffic on the Adriatica line will gradually return to normal. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, leading company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group, has completed the infrastructural and technological upgrading works between San Vito Lanciano (PE) and San Severo (FG), on the Pescara-Foggia line, scheduled from 8 to 19 April.

In the San Giovanni tunnel (over 9 km long), in Abruzzo, a new Water Drain System was created (strengthening of the water regulation system through technical solutions capable of counteracting the accumulation of limestone on the slabs located at the level of the level of the iron and encourage the correct escape of rising, spring and rainwater from the tunnel) for the drainage of rainwater which allows to increase the reliability of the line.

On the section between Ripalta and Lesina, in Puglia, work was carried out for the construction of hydraulic works preparatory to the doubling of the section. At the same time, interventions were carried out in the Foggia station to replace switches and preparatory works for the construction of the future Central Computerized Equipment (ACC). In the Campomarino station, in Molise, preparatory works have been carried out which will allow the crossing track to be extended to 750 meters to facilitate the development of freight traffic on the Adriatic route.

In the same period, in Abruzzo, between Fossacesia and Vasto San Salvo, technological modernization works were carried out in the Diavolo, San Donato, Vasto and Sinello tunnels, preparatory to the creation of the ACCM (Multi-station Computerized Central Equipment) and other strengthening and maintenance between Falconara and Ancona, Varano and Loreto, as well as in the stations of Cattolica, Giulianova, Ortona and Foggia.

The activities carried out by RFI technicians and contracting companies saw over 250 people at work. The overall economic investment was approximately 260 million euros, of which 100 million were financed with PNRR funds.
