“The discussion we are witnessing on the TARI is the bitter legacy left to us by a Tuscan policy that has decided over the years not to decide on the waste issue.”
This was said by the general secretary of the CISL Florence-Prato, Fabio Franchi, regarding the controversy that exploded in Florence over the increase in the waste tax.
“There is a need to open a reflection on future waste management as soon as possible; having said and continue to say no to waste-to-energy plants and no to any treatment plant – says Franchi – determines a double disaster: economic, because it increases the cost of disposing of our waste in other regions or even in other countries; environmental, because bringing our waste hundreds of kilometers away, with trucks or diesel ships, creates incredible damage in terms of polluting emissions.”
“For this reason – continues the CISL secretary – the citizens of Florence and the metropolitan city have the duty to hear words of truth and transparency, our position has always been clear: without waste treatment plants the costs and tariffs are destined to increase every year.”
