“Tell us a story”, there have already been around fifty applications for the short film dedicated to the Centenary of Legnano

A collective and participatory project, which starts from the “bottom”, for tell the story of the city of Legnano, in its centenary, with the (most beautiful) micro-stories of its citizens. It will begin the week of April 22nd second phase of “Give us your story”, the project organized by the “Augusto Marinoni” civic library and the group of bibliovolunteers launched at the end of March.

The initiative is part of the program of the Centenary of Legnano Città, And aimed at making a “short” which will collect voices, faces and testimonies of an important glimpse of the city’s history from the twentieth century up to the threshold of the seventies through stories lived or passed down that talk about work, habits, loves, leisure, families and holidays.

«Give us your story is an initiative that well summarizes our way of understanding participation and cultural activity –
comments Guido Bragato, Councilor for Culture -, because it starts from a group of volunteers and because it is the daily stories, those of well-known people as well as those of perfect strangers, that will make up the history of Legnano summarized in the short; a choral story, therefore, a voice – we hope as faithful as possible – of a community that in those years was building the growth of a reality sanctioned by the recognition of the title of City which arrived in 1924″.

Fifty stories have already been collected

A few days before the deadline closes (April 20th), I am around fifty applications were collected (one twenty of these concern people hospitalized in the Accorsi RSA where bibliovolunteers carry out cultural animation activities) which, from next week, will be examined by the working group made up of library staff and bibliovolunteers themselves: «This wonderful project – said Selene Buia, director of the library – was born from the idea of create a memory archive. We launched a call and many registrations arrived, I’m sure many more will arrive before April 20th: we will give you nice surprises». The seed of this sprouting project was sown by biblio-volunteer Gabriella Oldrini: «History is made up of many micro-stories and they are the ones we are going to tell – he explained -, and if this seed was able to germinate it is thanks to the entire biblio-community».

Starting from May, the bibliovolunteers will begin interviews with the candidates by welcoming them into the library, or going to their homes, whether these are in private homes or in the Accorsi RSA. For these trips the bibliovolunteers will use an electric vehicle made available by the technical sponsor of the initiative, the Rezzonico Auto Group. «For over twenty years we have been alongside the Municipality in the most important cultural events such as the Palio – underlines the owner of the Group, Vittorio Rezzonico -; for consistency we certainly couldn’t miss a historic event such as the Centenary, the occasion in which Legnano celebrates its century as a City. Still in the cultural field, we will be partners of Opera in piazza. In this case we chose the latest electric Fiat model, the Seicento, which implements a philosophy of sustainable mobility in a historical phase marked by the energy transition process.”

The interview phase will conclude by June, followed by editing; the “short” return event will be held in autumn.
