The La Farina high school presents a rich program for the tenth edition of the National Night of the Classical High School, an event which takes place simultaneously in classical institutes throughout Italy and which has the aim of promoting Greek and Latin culture.

From 6pm tomorrow until midnight the events planned by the school director Caterina Celeste will alternate, with an opening video entitled “In some way we will” by Francesco Rainero.

This will be followed in the main hall at 6.30 pm by the meeting on the 70 years of Television in Italy (1954), dedicated to maestro Manzi entitled “DAD before DAD”, then the debate on the text by Karl Popper, Bad television teacher with the interventions by Professor Rosa Faraone and Dr. Angelo Fabio Costantino, clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, then the video of the students of the Cambridge IGCSE classes “Radio London – British colonial stereotypes in the RAI television drama of the 70s”.

At 7.45 pm the speech of the prof. Dario Tomasello, DAMS – Unime Coordinator dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of Italo Calvino and at 10 pm the appointment dedicated to the birth of the “Giuseppe La Farina” classical high school and the cultural role it played in the service of the city of Messina.
A particularly heartfelt moment by the former high school students entitled “I was there too”.
Speeches by magistrates Walter Ignazitto and Liborio Fazzi are expected, as well as video contributions by students of yesterday and today: Giovanna Spatari, Rector of UNIME; Nadia Terranova, writer; Christian Bisceglia, director and screenwriter; Pio Lo Re, former school director and Antonio Mundo, doctor of Classics.

Finally at 11pm the topic of Gender Violence yesterday and today will be addressed – From what women don’t say to what women don’t want – The strength to emerge: Artemisia Gentileschi and Frida Khalo. An investigation into the past and an evaluation of the present seen by high school young people.

The full programme, in addition to events in the school’s main hall, also includes performances in the Monte Pietà space entitled “Long is the night”: poetry recitals by the students of the theater workshop with Ariadne’s monologue (Ovid, Heroides) , Una Cassandra (Manlio Moretti, Nonuna di meno) and again the Monologue of Beatrice (Stefano Benni, Le Beatrici), Hamina (Serena Dandini, Ferite a mortal) and the final piece by Giacomo Leopardi, Eἱς Σελήνην.
