Breast cancer experts will meet on April 19th in Modena – SulPanaro

MODENA VOn Friday 19 April, the Hotel Rechigi in Modena hosts the conference entitled Multidisciplinary team comparison: PDTA of the breast in 2024 organized by the Oncology of the Modena Polyclinic. The event has the scientific directors of Prof. Massimo Dominicidirector of Oncology, prof. Federico Piacentini and the doctor Claudia Omarini of the Oncology of the Polyclinic e brings together all the professionals of the Breast Unit of the Modena University Hospital, EUSOMA certified, which provides the patient with suspected breast cancer with a rapid and coordinated response on the correct diagnosis, medical and/or surgical treatment and subsequent rehabilitation, without neglecting the psychological, hereditary and aesthetic aspects that may arise in women affected by breast cancer .

Each patient is thus included in a personalized Diagnostic Therapeutic Assistance Pathway (PDTA), along which she is always followed by a nurse case manager.

Such PDTA – explains the professor. Massimo Dominiciprofessor at UniMoRe and Director of Oncology at the Polyclinic – for at least ten years it has responded to stringent quality requirements dictated by EUSOMA (European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists), the highest European scientific body that deals with breast cancer – guaranteeing Modena patients high standards of care and treatment in compliance with the most up-to-date guidelines guidance and the most modern therapeutic options”.

The integration of staff – comments the professor. Federico Piacentiniprofessor at UniMoRe and head of PDTA Breast at the Polyclinic – it is a fundamental requirement for the correct functioning of the multidisciplinary Breast Unit which makes use of the multi-specialist anatomopathological, surgical, radiotherapy, plastic-reconstructive skills, in addition to the indispensable contribution of psychologists, data managers, case managers, biologists, nurses, physiotherapists and radiology technicians alongside to the proximity of voluntary associations”.

Concludes the doctor Claudia Omarinimedical director at the Oncology Day Hospital: “The scientific event scheduled for next Friday 19 April arises precisely from the need to strengthen the comparison and integration between different professional figures relating to the breast PDTA, not only of the Modena University Polyclinic Company but also at AUSL in the other facilities hospitals in the Province, with a view to consolidating and optimizing the inter-company pathways for taking care of patients with breast cancer“.
