“It is now known that waste collection represents an unresolved problem for years, but it is equally clear that whoever should get our city out of the quicksand, or rather the mountains of waste, continues to be characterized by inability and inconclusiveness. After many years of administration led by Falcomatà, the Democratic Party and the left, no more excuses can be made”.
The municipal councilor of Reggio Calabria declared this in a note Antonino Caridi (Lega) who certainly doesn’t send them to Councilor Brunetti.
“In Reggio Calabria, an emergency situation persists that cannot be found in other Calabrian territories. For the first time in our Region, the mayors clearly know where to dispose of waste because the regional government led by President Occhiuto, with the profound reform of the system implemented, has allowed the emergency phase to be overcome and its disposal in public landfills in Calabria prices considerably inferior”, comments Caridi.
“As President Occhiuto has repeatedly reminded us, today not a single kilo of waste is sent abroad. Nonetheless, in Reggio Calabria, in all these years, the problem has not been solved and the collection system is still collapsing. It’s time for Councilor Brunetti to get busy and bring Reggio Calabria and the Reggini out of the oblivion in which they have been forced to live for years. And they can’t even blame third parties, because whoever administered our city, catapulting it into an environmental disaster, just to stay on the issue of waste collection, and whoever is administering it today is still them”.
The reference is to the piles of waste that persist in some areas of the city these days:
“Over time we have witnessed extensions of the waste collection service, the cancellation of tenders in judicial proceedings with condemnation of the Authority, appeals and counter-appeals, and the rotation of companies in the service. All this chaos that has arisen has not helped the resolution of the problems, but has made them worse. Today a new emergency which, as the summer period approaches, places us in an alert situation. In fact, the new company in charge does not appear to be able to have all the staff necessary to efficiently carry out the collection service. From the little information we have at the moment, it seems that these are problems related to medical documentation.
One thing is certain, before the establishment of the new company, those in charge should have verified the completeness of the documents, instead of leaving, once again, the City at the mercy of degradation. May Mayor Falcomatà and Councilor Brunetti clarify what is happening and resolve the problem immediately. We are really tired of witnessing this massacre. Reggio Calabria deserves better”, concludes councilor Caridi.
