Secretary Damiani, deputy vice president Emili and vice presidents Manuali and Montagnoli. The 37-year-old unanimously elected by the new council: “Renewal required”. Objective: to redevelop the figure of the hunter.

On Tuesday 16 April, with the installation session called by the electoral commission, the new council of the provincial federation of Perugia officially began. The newly elected councilors, with over 75 percent of the votes, unanimously voted Luca Coletti, born in 1987, originally from the Todi hamlet of Pantalla, as the new president. Alongside him there will be Mario Damiani, who will continue to carry out the role of secretary-treasurer, Marco Emili, as deputy vice-president, and Claudio Manuali and Giuliano Montagnoli, as vice-presidents.

President Coletti immediately strongly underlined the need to relaunch the role of Federcaccia “which must return to being a protagonist in all institutional settings. The new council – explained the new president – was born from the pressing requests of the vast majority of the hunting federations of the province of Perugia, who requested a renewal. A renovation that must not, in the most absolute way, be synonymous with scrapping. On the contrary, it must unite and multiply the forces of the association, guaranteeing the hunting activity a future in modern civil society and a guide capable of meeting this demanding challenge”.

“We cannot help but notice – explains Coletti – the lack of capacity for dialogue with civil society, the institutions and the hunting world as a whole, in particular with young people, which has characterized Federcaccia in recent years. Not to mention the lack of a precise strategy for the formation of a new management team capable of dealing with the burdensome tasks imposed by the future. All these weaknesses and delays ended up making the Federcaccia Umbra pay an extremely high price in terms of presence, credibility, initiative and, last but not least, attraction towards new, but also old forces”.

Therefore, the new executive council will soon be established and the various commissions will be established to protect all forms of hunting, none excluded, with a team that will be built “on territorial skills and representations”. Among the most ambitious objectives is that of redeveloping the figure of the hunter so that “he ceases to be considered a destroyer of the environment and finally begins to be perceived by civil society as a figure capable of conserving the environment and wildlife wild, as well as protecting biodiversity”.

National president Massimo Buconi, running for the second mandate, was present to witness the installation of the new council, congratulating Coletti and his entire team on the prestigious position he had achieved. Buconi then wanted to underline that Coletti is “one of the first fruits born from the project in which Federcaccia Nazionale has invested heavily, namely that of the youth group, a nursery for managers which has achieved a first great result”.
