The imposing organizational machine of the Tour De France is working at full capacity and, for the first time in its history, will have three of its stages in Italy.

In recent days, some inspections were held in Rimini by the municipality’s technical group and Stéphane Boury, former cyclist and arrival manager of the Tour de France (Commissaire Général, Responsable des arrivées).

In particular, a technical meeting was held in the town hall, followed by inspections, with Stéphane Boury, and the municipal technical table involving managers, local police command and technicians involved in the working group established by the municipality of Rimini for the coordination and the realization of the arrival, on June 29th, on the Lungomare Giuseppe Di Vittorio, in the stretch between Piazzale Gondar and Piazzale Benedetto Croce, of the first stage of the Grande Boucle.

The working group carried out a new inspection on the stretch of route which, coming from the San Marino highway, after a short stretch on the Adriatica state road in the direction of Riccione, will enter the city, passing through the viale Settembrini-via Chiabrera-viale axis Florence, and then reach the seaside area. During the inspection, the best solutions were examined and evaluated both in relation to the safety of the race route and to guarantee effective alternative roads, so as to minimize the inevitable inconvenience for citizens and the numerous tourists.

The technicians have defined the final operational details for the areas that will host the Tour organization and the 23 participating sports clubs. A technical area with related services will be set up in the car park in via Chiabrera which will accommodate over 60 technical vehicles. The buses of the participating sports clubs, with their support vehicles and flagships, will arrive immediately after arrival, on Lungomare Di Vittorio. The arrival area will be set up, again on the seafront, at Via Lagomaggio, with the installation of the finish line, grandstands, giant screens and other structures serving the finish line.

The 190 countries that will follow the event will also have access to a press center set up at the Palacongressi, as well as obviously the stations for live broadcasts near the finish line. The race will also be followed from above, thanks to the TV helicopters that will fly over from Florence to Rimini. On June 29th, according to the timetable provided by the event organizing company, the arrival of the yellow advertising caravan is scheduled for 4.05pm, followed by the arrival of the leader of the race at approximately 5.34pm. The Local Police have started planning closures to ensure the safety of the route and identify alternative roads.

Given the importance and complexity of the event, which will see the arrival of the Tour organization’s vehicles as early as June 26, the local police command has forwarded a request for support to the other local police forces in the main municipalities of the province , so as to have additional officers available and deploy on the streets of Rimini for 29 June.
