a friendly match is also scheduled at PalabancaSport

High-level women’s volleyball has been missing in Piacenza since 2016, when the then Rebecchi Nordmeccanica moved to Modena and the city was left orphaned of Serie A1 volleyball. After eight years of waiting, we will soon be breathing stellar volleyball again, even if only for a couple of days: the Italy women’s team coached by Julio Velasco will be at PalabancaSport on 8 and 9 May for training and a friendly match in sight of the first stage of the Volleyball Nations League in Turkey, an event of vital importance considering that the Italians will have to defend their ranking to qualify for the Paris Olympics next July.

The official program will be announced in the next few days, for now we know that Velasco’s group will train in Piacenza on the 8th and then play a friendly match the following day, against an opponent yet to be defined. It should be the last test before the VNL which will see the Italians engaged in Antalya starting from May 14th in the group with Poland, Germany, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Currently in a meeting with the Italians, who are training at the Pavesi Center in Milan, there is also Martina Bracchi from Piacenza, spiker in the last season with Busto Arsizio and included by Velasco in the group of 30 players who will be able to play the Vnl. Who knows if there will also be room for her in what is an absolute first for the women’s national volleyball team in Piacenza.
