CISL UIL Irpinia Sannio will hold the Labor Day on May 1, 2024 jointly in Benevento together with the CGIL Benevento.
“We would have liked to keep together the themes of Work, Social Justice, Peace and a Solidarity and inclusive Europe also in Avellino but despite every effort we were unable to share the strategies”, write the general secretaries of CISL Irpinia Sannio and Uil Avellino Benevento, Vecchione and Simeone.
“Cisl and Uil – they explain – did not detect the conditions to be able to celebrate May 1st together with the Municipal Administration of Solofra, which should have even sponsored the event, only to then have to request and report them for the failure to open the relevant Social Center of the same Administration”.
“These inconsistencies and overlaps that are difficult to explain at a time of great destabilization for the Irpinian community would have required an “autonomous” and “independent” demonstration by the unitary union precisely to mark the distance between work and what is happening in Irpinia. It would not have been enough try to characterize the demonstration with the request (then addressed to whom? If the Mayor would parade and speak at the rally!!) for the opening of the Social Centre, which if the administration is not able to manage it would be good to remember that it was donated by CGIL CISL UIL to which it could be returned, instead of waiting for it to degrade again while unidentified clashes and positions within the administration take place.”
“It is unfortunate – conclude the unions – that not everyone wanted to seize the opportunity to divide, but after having brought May 1st to Ariano Irpino last year, this year we have decided to hold the joint demonstration in Benevento at the Arch of Trajan from where the voice of Labor’s dissent will be raised loudly towards the Government and policies increasingly distant from the citizens of the Internal Areas”.
