CREMONA – ‘King’ of preferences, Santo Canale will not be on the list for a fourth term in the next municipal elections on 8 and 9 June. It will go down instead on the field alongside the mayoral candidate Andrea Virgilio in support of the Cremona list is you, with Luciano Pizzetti as the leader. Canale entered the Salone dei Quadri at the age of 22 in 2009, elected on the civic list in support of Gian Carlo Corada, as the most voted councilor with 107 preferences. In 2014 he was the most voted in the Democratic Party (274) and in 2019 with 371 preferences he was the most voted municipal councilor of the Democratic Party and of the entire coalition in support of Gianluca Galimberti.
The complete list of the Democratic Party will be revealed in the next few days, but in the meantime some names have filtered through. There will be 32 people who will run under the ‘dem’ symbol, 16 men and 16 women. Among these there will be confirmations, such as Giovanni Gagliardi, and novelties such as Mattia Gerevini, a student of Political Science who at 22 years old is certainly one of the youngest candidates. Among the new faces there is also Eleonora Sessa, a young member of the city secretariat. Then Elizabeth Cabriniteacher at Anguissola e Claudio Ardigòactive in the world of volunteering and former municipal councilor in Castelverde.

The centre-left mayoral candidate asked for my commitment at an organizational level to support his list and for the best affirmation of the Cremonese centre-left. For this reason I will not be a candidate but I will work for the success of ‘Cremona sei tu’, also making available the skills in urban safety that I have gained thanks to my profession and the relationships with the city that I have built in these long years as municipal councilor. Virgilio – concluded Canale – is the ideal mayoral candidate for our city. He is a capable, experienced and competent person, with strong motivations and civil passion. I am truly honored to share with him this path which aims at a new phase of development and growth for Cremona. And I’m already at work, starting today.”
