Earth Day 2024 on the theme of water – Valledaostaglocal.it

The Fort of Bard is preparing to welcome, for the third consecutive year, an extraordinary event: Earth Day. This celebration, which unites up to a billion people in 193 United Nations countries, aims to celebrate our planet and promote its protection, drawing public attention to an active commitment to the Earth.

This year’s edition will see the participation of 821 students from various primary and lower secondary schools in the Aosta Valley. Thanks to the support of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Educational System and Policies for Intergenerational Relations, of the Department of Economic Development, Training and Work, Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta and of CVA, the event promises to offer an unforgettable and educational experience for all participants.

The opening of the event is scheduled for Monday 22 April at 9.30 am, with a warm welcome to the various schools in the pavilion specially set up in Piazza d’Armi and greetings from the authorities. During the day, students will have the opportunity to participate in a series of training and exchange activities entirely dedicated to environmental education and this year’s central theme: water.

Through games, workshops and interactive activities, participants will be able to explore the value of water as a source of life and a fundamental resource for our daily existence. Furthermore, they will have the privilege of attending a show specially prepared for the occasion by the Leo Scienza cultural association of Bologna.

The educational workshops, created in collaboration with CVA, Staedtler and Isiltp di Verrès, will offer students a practical and engaging experience, enriching their learning and stimulating their curiosity.

But the initiatives do not end here. Classes will also have the opportunity to visit two important exhibitions: Wildlife Photographer of the Year, now in its 59th edition, and There is no more time. The climate emergency in the images of Agence France-Presse. The latter will be supported by a laboratory on renewable energy managed by students of the Electronics and Electrical Engineering high school of the Isiltp of Verrès, intended for middle school students.

The two days will end with a snack based on local products and the delivery of this year’s souvenir gadget, a snack box with the Forte di Bard logo.

Ornella Badery, President of the Forte di Bard Association, commented enthusiastically: “Earth Days combine the attention that Forte di Bard has always paid to the world of school and environmental issues. The theme chosen for this edition, the water, has allowed us to further strengthen collaborations with the world of schools and businesses”.

With this initiative, Forte di Bard once again demonstrates its commitment to environmental education and its desire to raise awareness among new generations regarding the protection of our planet.
