Bergamo-Brescia Capital of Culture, full steam ahead: call to continue the projects

Bergamo-Brescia Capital of Culture 2023 continues to reverberate in 2024 and, to give continuity to the projects that blossomed last year, the Municipality of Bergamo has decided to give financial support to the activities carried out or which will be carried out between January and September of this year , with particular attention to projects in continuity with the lines of BgBs2023, for the ability to network and adhere to the themes of the Capital.

Who is it aimed at?

For this reason, a public notice has been published which is aimed at legally constituted companies, sole proprietorships, associations, foundations, non-participatory bodies and institutions which have non-profit purposes, or which in any case implement the initiatives for which they are applying for a non-profit contribution. profit-making, and which are formally established or able to document a continuity of activity from 1 January 2022. The contributions will be assigned and paid exclusively for activities taking place in the period from January 2024 to the end of September 2024, in the territory of the Municipality of Bergamo, and respond to general and specific principles and guidelines.

«The notice is a recognition that aims to reward continuity with the best that was born in 2023. The desire to enhance the heritage of Capitale is also shared by the administration of Brescia which independently, but following the same principles, will continue to support of projects that consolidate legacies”, is the comment of the Councilor for Culture Nadia Ghisalberti.

How does it work

The contribution attributed to initiatives deemed worthy of economic support cannot be greater than ninety percent of the deficit between the expenses incurred and the revenue achieved nor greater than fifty percent of the value of the project. The maximum value of the contribution also includes the reduction or elimination of tariffs for spaces granted by the Municipality and for the occupation of public land. When calculating the deficit, own resources will not be counted as revenue. Only project proposals with a minimum value of six thousand euros are eligible for funding. The grant application must be accompanied by a detailed economic plan.

The principles to be respected

In particular, the projects must respond to general principles and guidelines, namely:

• relevance to the plans, programs and projects of the Municipal Administration or proven relevance and effectiveness for the civil, social, cultural and economic promotion of the city;
• the representativeness of the proposing entity; the congruity of the relationship between the cost of the initiative and the hypothesized results in terms of participation (the result indicators considered relevant and the monitoring system must be specified in the grant application).

And then to specific principles and directions, namely:

• consistency with the objective Grow up together outlined in the dossier BgBs23 The illuminated city and with the projects that represent its legacy (the requests for contributions must highlight the correlation with the planning areas described in part 4 of the dossier: culture as care; the city that invents; the natural city ; the city of hidden treasures);
• project continuity with initiatives included in the BgBs23 schedule in 2023;
• replicability of the initiative over time and in other spaces/places.
