Amatori Rugby Alghero comes close to winning in a thrilling match against Rugby Parabiago. On a splendid sunny day at the Maria Pia Rugby Field, Sunday 28 April at 3pm, Amatori Rugby Alghero offered an exciting performance on the penultimate day of the Serie A championship, Group 1, hosting Rugby Parabiago.

Despite a brilliant start to the game, Amatori suffered a narrow defeat 20 to 22, in a match in which fate seemed to have turned its back on the home team.

The start of the match saw Amatori take the lead with two quick tries from Esposito and May in the first 11 minutes, both converted by Delli Carpini, bringing the score to 14-0. However, Parabiago quickly responded with goals from Mikaele and Cornejo, closing the gap to just two points by the 21st minute. The first half ended with Amatori ahead 17 to 12, thanks to a precise free kick by Delli Carpini.

The second half maintained a balanced pace. Silva Soria, for Parabiago, overturned the result with a try and a conversion, moving the score to 17 to 19. A further free kick from Delli Carpini temporarily regained the lead for Amatori, but it was another kick from Silva Soria decided the match in favor of Parabiago at the final whistle.

Despite the disappointment, the team finds consolation in the recent decision of the Federal Council to eliminate relegation for this season, ensuring the Amatori’s permanence in Serie A. With one point gained in the standings, and four for Parabiago, Amatori Rugby Alghero is now preparing for the last match of the season against Settimo Torinese, determined to prove its worth and end the championship on a positive note.
