Many events to celebrate April 25th / Cesena / Home

The city of Cesena is preparing to celebrate the 79th anniversary of liberation of Italy with various initiatives scheduled until Sunday 5 May.

The exhibition is set up in the ex Pescheria art gallery show “Educated for War – Nationalization and militarization of childhood in the first half of the 20th century”. The exhibition, which can be visited free of charge from Friday to Sunday, is created and curated by Gianluca Gabrielli, a research doctor at the University of Macerata (see news referenced).

From the “Carlo Fabbri” park in Martorano, on Sunday 21 April at 10 am, the pedaling for peace organized by the Ravennate neighborhood and the “Proposta Resistenza” group with scheduled arrival in San Martino in Fiume.

In the Wooden Room of the Malatestiana Library, on Monday 22 April at 5pm, the book presentation “A shared story. Cesena 25 July 1943-31 December 1945. The Cesena victims of the Second World War in the documents of the municipal archives” by Mattia Brighi. Subsequently, on Wednesday 24 April, again at 5pm, the Aula Magna of the Malatestiana Library will host theevent “On stone: memories of the Resistance”, edited by Anpi Cesena and Auser Cesena, during which the presentation of the book “Antifascism and Resistance written on stone will be held. Headstones and memorial stones in Cesena and the Savio Valley”.

The celebrations on Thursday 25 April will begin at 11am with the gathering of civil, military and citizen authorities in Piazzetta Alboni (east square of the Cavour Barrier). Afterwards, the “Città di Cesena” musical band will start the event procession along Viale Carducci which will end with the installation of the crown at the monument to the Fallen of the Resistance by the mayor Enzo Lattuca. In the afternoon, at 3pm, the party will continue Serravalle Gardens where, among other initiatives, the conclusion of the process started last November 20th by the municipal administration will be held “We are also from Cesena” relating to the recognition of citizenship for young people of foreign origin.

On the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of roundup of 29 April 1944 in the hamlets of Ravenna, the neighborhood of San Martino in Fiume, in collaboration with Proposta Resistenza, organizes an evening dedicated to the memory of the victims and the commitment to peace on Friday 3 May, at 8.45 pm, in the premises of the former School elementary. Franco Spazzoli, Mara Valdinosi and Fabio Pezzi will speak.

The calendar of initiatives will come to an end on Sunday 5 May with “La Resistenza”, one cycling of memory on the places of massacres nazi-fascists in the Cesena area, edited by Anpi Forlì-Cesena, Fiab Forlì and Circolo Arci Bagnile.
