De Carolis’ operatic-symphonic season begins at the Comunale di Sassari – Sassari News

Sassari. The 2024 opera-symphonic season of de Carolis begins which he will bring to the stage of the Municipality of Sassari, from April to December, prominent names in concert and opera international.

For Wednesday 24 Aprilfor reasons of the Maestro’s health, will be rescheduled, with a new setting, again on the Comunale stage, Sunday 13 October. The news arrived today together with a short note from Ughi addressed to the public. “I am deeply sorry – says Uto Ughi – of having to postpone this concert, which I was very keen on, but I am sure that the public will understand and will be happy to attend a new project next October, which I am working on in this period which involves the newborn “Ughi Foundation” and which I decided to bring to Sassari. For now I can tell you that it is a wide-ranging work, designed for those who love music, created to arouse curiosity and involve the new generations too.”

To inaugurate the billboard Wednesday 24 April will be another exceptional protagonist of the international violin tradition: Massimo Quarta. Winner in 1991 of the Paganini Prize of Genoa, the third Italian to win the prestigious award, Massimo Quarta boasts a career that has seen him as a protagonist in Italy and abroad for almost 30 years as soloist and director. The revolutionary aspect given by Quarta to the reinterpretation of Paganini’s repertoire won over the public, earning him wide acclaim from the international press and a place of honor among the most illustrious violinists. Massimo Quarta was recently nominated by de Carolis Guest Principal Conductor for the symphony and also by virtue of this role he made himself available to support the organization in this sudden remodulation of the program. soloist and director ofde Carolis Orchestra in a program that will feature music by Mozart (Violin Concerto k 219 And Symphony No. 40 in G m K 550) and of Niccolo Paganini ( The Palpiti op. 13). Massimo Quarta, already acclaimed guest of the 2023 season of the Institution will return to the stage of the Municipality May 4th to conduct the organisation’s orchestra in a program dedicated to the music of Tchaikovsky (Symphony No. 4 in F minor op. 36 and Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 35).

The third date with the symphony (May 11th) will be entrusted to another leading exponent of concert music Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli who will conduct the organisation’s orchestra with a program dedicated to Mozart (Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 5 K 488 in A Major) and Beethoven (Symphony No. 5 in C minor op. 67). On this occasion, another established performer will also take to the Comunale stage: the pianist Leonora Armellini among the winners of piano competition international Fryderick Chopin.

The autumn recovery will be inaugurated on October 13th by the announced project by Uto Ughi.

The Sassari theater has been chosen among the venues where the foundation’s artists will perform in 2024.

All concerts of the symphony season will begin at 8.30pm at the Municipal Theatre.

The fulcrum of every production will be this year too the Institution’s Orchestra much appreciated by the public and critics even in the last concert and opera season. The de Carolis orchestra was founded in 1993, bringing together the excellence of the Sardinian territory, which constitutes the majority of the staff, and finding space for young people, recruited among the best students of the regional conservatories. In 31 years of activity he has tackled more than 150 titles, highlighting his flexibility in effortlessly navigating both the lyrical and symphonic repertoire and obtaining the applause of the Masters who, production after production, have taken turns directing him.

After the success of 2023, de Carolis confirms the two previews in the summer months with the project “The great summer opera” which presents a world premiere of the Italian version: “False betrayal” of the well-known Italian composer Marco Tutino. The opera will be staged at Municipality of Sassari The June 28th at 8.30pm And Sunday 30 June at 6.30pm. A great Verdi title “Othello” it is instead the expected event of second edition from the opera in the square of Italy which after the triumph of last year’s opera “Pagliacci” proposes the next one July 12th at 9.30pm Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece. “Otello” will transform the Sassari living room into a open-air theater awaiting the traditional autumn season which includes 3 other opera titles: Tosca (1-3-5 November),”La Boheme” (December 18-20-22), Werther (November 29 – December 1).
