“The Ragusa Management guided walk with citizens inside a construction site”

“The question is: but who are those of the political-cultural association Direzione Ragusa? And, again: how can they claim the right to organize a guided walk, as they define it, in a construction site area? And how can the director of works of the construction site in question take on the responsibility of hosting an indefinite number of citizens, given that the invitation was addressed to everyone, each of whom should be equipped with personal protective equipment?”.

This is what the municipal councilor of the Five Star Ragusa movement, Sergio Firrincieli, says regarding the initiative promoted for Friday afternoon in the Santa Domenica valley where there are still works in progress. “I understand the hysteria of the municipal administration which wants to demonstrate at all costs that it is right with the operation of the valley, trying to silence those who criticize – continues Firrincieli – But, I repeat, in what capacity is the Ragusa Management promoting a “excursion” of this type? I could understand if the municipal administration, assuming all the responsibilities of the case, had moved to organize the inspection of a few stakeholders interested in the valley, to understand how things are. Then, the Five Star movement, or any other political force present in the chamber, would be entitled to carry out inspections on any public works site currently in progress. In short, it seems to us to be an attempt to impress the citizens with respect to the criticisms which, at this point, we ask ourselves whether they are founded or not. Is this a way to manipulate public opinion by making the construction site available? I therefore urge the municipal administration – concludes the five-star representative – to deny access to those who are not authorized and the director of works of the construction site in question to take measures in this sense. Otherwise, the idea that everything is possible, that everything is permissible, passes away. And it’s not like that. If the rules exist it is because they must be respected. Naturally, we have already informed the competent bodies who are called upon to evaluate the regularity or otherwise of the process in question with respect to access to the construction site of a public work which we all know is still in the execution phase”.
