Walking on the Walls, to raise awareness and funds with a view to donating a guide dog, through the Lions Guide Dog Service, to blind people. The first edition of ‘Zampalonga’ took place in recent days, a walk aimed at dog owners and others which developed from the Porta degli Angeli to the Torrione and back.

The initiative, sponsored by the Department of Social Policies, was organized by the Ferrara Host Lions Club in collaboration with all the Ferrara Lions Clubs. The councilor for Social Policies Cristina Coletti brought her greetings to the event: “An event born from the sensitivity of the Lions, who never stop carrying out initiatives aimed at bringing well-being and creating social value in the territory. The walk is a way to Raising awareness among citizens of an action that represents a true example of social inclusion, aimed at improving the quality of life, is a fundamental support that guarantees socialization and safety Giovanni Casadio and all the lion clubs of the city for this laudable initiative, made of solidarity and knowledge”.

“In order to deliver more and more guide dogs – underlined Casadio – we need everyone’s help. However small it may be, any help is also important to complete the training of a dog in the right time, which lasts about six months.” The Lions service at the Limbiate guide dog training center was founded in 1959 and is currently made up of 15 people, including 8 trainers. To date, the center has delivered 2,302 dogs and has the potential to train around 50 guide dogs every year. There were 127 requests to have a dog delivered. The walk along the Walls took place in conjunction with the walks organized in other cities of the Lions 108 Tb district, namely Bologna, Formigine, Guastalla, Parma and La Spezia. The fee paid by the participants will be donated entirely for the activities of the training center in Limbiate.
