Sea, wind, sun, sails, regattas, shows, sports and lots of fun. These are the ingredients that make the International Sailing Week special, from 20 to 28 April, which brings hundreds of sailors from all over Italy to Livorno and which colors the city with the flags of 34 countries that participate in this not only sporting event. While the sailors compete in the regatta fields in front of the Labronian coast, at the Officine Storiche of Porta a Mare there will be room for fun.

The program was presented at the Naval Academy by Admiral Lorenzano Di Renzo, by councilor Rocco Garufo and by Andriano Tramonti, president of Lem, who brought greetings from the Salvetti administration, by the president of the sailing club committee Andrea Mazzoni, with the flagship of Assonautica which also gives sailors with disabilities the opportunity to race. A week in which the Naval Academy, the historic training school for future Navy officers, opens its doors to visits and is the promoter of many initiatives.

“Because sailing – said Admiral Di Renzo – is a formidable training tool for strengthening character. And going to sea is nothing other than the art of governing the ungovernable”. Here the longest regatta in the Mediterranean also becomes a spectacle, the Ran 630miglia which, starting from Livorno on 24 April, will touch Porto Cervo, the Faraglioni of Capri and then return to the city of the Quattro Mori on 1 May. But during the week it will also be possible to admire the jewels of the Navy, a show of boats from Chaplin, to Gemini, from Artica to the Polar Star which will set sail, after the homage to the Margottini frigate, for the training campaign in the seas of Northern Europe .

And on land the Village will be full of events: conference on Admiral Straulino (20 April at 6.15 pm), rally of historic cars (21 April at 9 am), basketball and rowing demonstrations, the 28th concert of the Academy Fanfare Naval. A Ciclovela couldn’t be missing, meeting on April 27th starting from Porta a Mare. The entire program can be consulted on the website www.settimanavelicainternazionale.it. Good wind!
