Canteens and school buses, registrations open – Teramo

TERAMO. Canteen and school bus service: registrations are now underway, with rates unchanged compared to last year. The Municipality of Teramo has opened the procedures to accept applications from families who intend to use catering and school transport for their children for the year 2024/2025. Requests, as has been the case for some time now, must be forwarded to the institution only electronically via the Planetschool platform by May 31st.
The two services (which include municipal schools from nursery to middle school) will weigh differently on families’ pockets based on the ISEE, which must be attached to the application. For school meals there are five income brackets foreseen by the Municipality: they range from the lowest, with an ISEE of less than 8 thousand euros, which gives the right to free service, to the highest, with an ISEE of more than 24 thousand euros, which provides a fee daily of 4.40 euros. For school transport, however, there are six brackets: the service will be free with ISEE less than 8 thousand euros and for the highest band, the one with ISEE over 35 thousand euros, the annual cost will be 360 euros. Rates for non-residents in the municipality of Teramo are higher by a few cents per band. The structuring of the income brackets and the costs of the canteen and school buses have remained unchanged compared to last year, the body that will take care of the overall expenditure of the two services for approximately 69%. The remaining part is paid by the families.
The education councilor Stefania Di Padova invites citizens to be punctual in submitting applications so that we can avoid problems and inefficiencies similar to those that occurred last year, particularly with lunches. In fact, in October 2023 there were many families who had not submitted the application, they had done so only close to the start of school activities or had had technical problems with the platform: circumstances which had generated chaos both in the municipal offices, called to process in a few days a huge number of practices, which in the canteens of schools where many students were not registered for the service. As of May 30, 2023, in fact, only 600 applications for lunch had been regularly submitted within the deadlines, compared to approximately 1,700 children and students who should have and wanted to use it. Precisely to avoid the repetition of difficult situations, the councilor invites compliance with the deadlines. (vm)
