The Council of State gives the green light to the liquefied natural gas deposit and the regasification plant in the port of Cagliari, in Giorgino, which will be powered by gas tankers.

Rejected, therefore, the appeal presented by the Fishermen’s Village Neighborhood Committee.

Already the TAR of Lazio had, with his sentence, opened the way to the Sardinia Lng project worth 120 million euros. Now comes yet another confirmation.

For their part, residents of the affected area contest the danger of the plant, which will be built close to homes.

“It has been reasonably highlighted – we read in the Council of State document – that the Canal Port constitutes the only port in Sardinia included among the 14 “core” Italian ports of the trans-European transport networks, identified to ensure the availability of alternative clean fuels”.

For the judges, Giorgino’s regasifier “It is located in an area entirely adjacent to the route of the LPG gas transport networks existing to serve the vast area of Cagliari, as well as located close to the location of the methane pipeline project (near the Sarroch ridge, Oristano, Porto Torres)”.
