LEGNANO – The Rugby Sound Festivala historic summer event in the Alto Milanese area, revealed today, Tuesday 16 April, new protagonists for the 2024 edition: Sunday 30 June is added to the already rich program with the confirmation of Die Antwoord and Cosmo to the Castle Island of Legnano.
The zef subculture and the film “Humandroid”
Die Antwoord are a band alternative hip hop/rave originally from Cape Town who debuted in 2009 with the album “$O$”; the band, founded the previous year by rappers Watkin Tudor “Ninja” Jones, Anri “Yolandi Visser” du Toit and DJ Hitek5000to which the producer later added Lil2Hood, identifies itself as a symbol of coexistence between different cultures. The chosen name means “the answer” in Afrikaansone of the languages – together with Xhosa and English – used by them; the musical style is also permeated with elements of the Zef subculture (a slang word that can be translated as “set of things”). Several songs by the group, which has often found itself at the center of legal disputes, have appeared in the video games from the Far Cry serieswhile in 2015, Ninja and Yolandi were co-stars, together with Hugh Jackman and Dev Patelof the film “Humandroid” by Neill Blokamp. Among Die Antwoord’s most successful records are “Donker Mag” and “Mount Niji and Da Nice Time Kid”; their latest effort “House of Zeff” dates back to 2020.
Pop “On the Wings of the White Horse”
On the evening of June 30th there will also be a concert by Cosmo who in March, three years after his last studio album, released “On the wings of the white horse” written, produced and performed together with Alessio Nataliziaproducer and musician based in London and known in the international underground circuits with the alias Not Waving. During the club tour, the Piedmontese singer brought the music of the new album to the stage, accompanied by a four-piece band between electronic and pop which they pioneered the song “Too Forte” and the title track, in addition to the classics from his repertoire adapted for the occasion. On stage Sanremo 2002 for the cover of “Be my baby” with La Representative di Lista and on the latest album by Paola & Chiara for an alternate version of “Kama Sutra”was the first Italian artist to limit the use of cell phones and screens during his concerts: an experiment intended to allow everyone to enjoy the experience one hundred percent and without distractions, creating a unique atmosphere.
The other shows scheduled
Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster, TicketOne, Mailticket and Vivaticket. Those with are also available, in limited quantities early entry formula which allow entry earlier than the opening of the general doors (this is not a further dedicated area nor delimited in any way by barriers).
The live shows of Die Antwoord and Cosmo therefore enter the program of the Rugby Sound Festival, one of the most anticipated summer events which also in the 2024 edition is organized in collaboration with Shining Productions and with the support of Municipality of Legnano. Among the shows scheduled for June is the opening night with Subsonica and Röyksopp’s DJ set (27), “Mai dire Goku” (28) And “I want to go back to the nineties” (29)while in July Placebo (1), Suicidal Tendencies and Agnostic Front (2), Coez & Frah Quintale (3), Massimo Pericolo (4), Alborosie & Shengen Clan (5), Zarro Night & Friends with Il Pagante and Dj Matrix (6), Cristina D’Avena and Gem Boy (7), Cypress Hill (12 July) and Deejay Time Celebration (13).
