Delivery of property for government use in favor of the Ministry of Culture and of the real estate portion called “Ex Torretta” to the Regional Administrative Court of Calabria
On April 17th, the delivery for government use will be completed, in favor of the Ministry of Culture – Regional Secretariat for Calabria, of a real estate portion included in the greater consistency of the “Ex Tremulini Fascist Federation” compendium, also known as “Palazzo de Mojà” of Reggio Calabria.
The entire complex, designed in the 1930s by the Reggio engineer Flaminio De Mojà to be used as a Barracks for the Young Fascists, was included in the State’s patrimonial assets with the following transfer title: “Art.38 of Lieutenant Legislative Decree of 07/27/1944, n. 159” and, with Declaration n. 169 of 06.26.2018, declared of Historical – Artistic interest by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
The building, at present, hosts the institutional headquarters of the Regional Administrative Court of Calabria, which holds the largest size of the complex, as well as the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, where offices and research laboratories are located. With the partial disposal of the spaces already in use at the TAR – Detached Section of Reggio Calabria, it will be possible to implement a new rationalization plan, in favor of the MIC, compliant with the regulatory provisions regarding the optimization of state-owned spaces.
This operation, made possible thanks to the repossession carried out by the State Property Agency of spaces partly unused and partly held without title by private entities, will guarantee the permanence of the Regional Secretariat Office in the city of Reggio Calabria, currently located in a property owned by the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova, under free loan for use, pursuant to an agreement that will expire on 22 September 2024.
The necessary refunctionalization and adaptation works of the premises that will be handed over to the MIC will be financed with the assigned Administration’s own funds, also guaranteeing the valorization of State assets.

On the same date, the delivery, for government use, to the Regional Administrative Court of Calabria of the real estate portion called “Ex Torretta” or “Podio”, a monumental arena from which Benito Mussolini gave a speech to the population in 1939, characterized by the presence, inside the turret, of mosaics which will be the subject of targeted conservative restoration interventions by the TAR thanks also to the support of the State Property Agency’s Design Structure.
