General States of cinema, Marco Gallo represented the city of Temples

It was the videomaker Marco Gallo, artistic director of Sicilymovie – Agrigento Film Festival and regional councilor for the coordination of Sicilian film festivals – who represented the city of Temples at the General States of Cinema in Sicily: an event organized by the Region which took place over the weekend at the Maniace castle in Ortigia. Three days of panels and technical tables for discussion between productions, distributions, professionals and organizers of Sicilian film festivals with some moments of entertainment such as the concert in the square of the Oscar winner Nicola Piovani, composer of the film “Life is beautiful”.

Marco Gallo moderated the technical table between mayors and councilors of many Sicilian municipalities who, together with the other festivals, contributed to supporting the events of their city.

During the conference, however, he conducted a report on Agrigento Italian Capital of Culture 2025 and launched the invitation for the 26 film festivals of coordination for an event that will welcome them all to Agrigento, applying as Sicilian Capital of Cinema. Also present on stage was Alessandro Rais, artistic director of the Efebo d’oro, a historic festival born in Agrigento. Marco Gallo has announced the twinning between the two festivals with the hope of bringing Efebo back to Agrigento, even if only for one day of the event. “It was an honor for me to represent Agrigento in such an important event and to be able to talk not only about my festival but about the capital of culture as an inclusive and welcoming city, in this case compared to all the other festivals in Sicily and they are even more happy to create a twinning with the Efebo d’oro – he wrote on social media – We will work in the next few weeks to make it official and having the aim of bringing it back, even for just one day, to Agrigento was also important being able to create a calendar of film festivals that covers 150 days and a large part of the Sicilian territory”.
