The restyling work on the bridge in Varese along Viale Europa will start on April 15th. The intervention, which involves a conservative restoration of the reinforced concrete structures of viaduct between viale Europa and via Piero Chiara, involves a total cost of 879,000 euros, and is financed partly by the Lombardy Region and partly with municipal resources.
The executive project, drawn up by engineer Roberto Belfiore, provides for the restoration of cracks and defects in the reinforced concrete structures, the verification of the mechanical resistance and durability of the materials, the classification of the seismic risk and the definition of the safety and maintenance of the work.
The construction site will be divided into four phases to limit changes to the road system. In the first phase of the intervention, the closure of Largo Grassini to traffic. So the traffic will be diverted onto the ramps and the roundabout on the bridge, so as to leave viale Europa connected with viale Piero Chiara, in both directions, and via Metastasio in the direction of the city center.
In the in the second phase, the southern ramps and half ring of the roundabout on the bridge will be closed. Therefore, for those coming from via Metastasio it will not be possible to take the roundabout on the bridge to go to Viale Europa but you will have to use the ramp that goes down towards via Piero Chiara in the direction of the first roundabout in Casbeno. The same goes for those coming from Casbeno: it will not be possible to take the ramp directly onto Via Metastasio but you will have to continue along Largo Grassini and then Viale Europa and use the first roundabout to go back and then go up from the north ramp towards Via Metastasio.
All changes to the road network will in any case be reported by means of special signs indicating the deviations.
