The body of the British actor Ray Stevenson, who died at the “Rizzoli” hospital in Ischia following a sudden illness, was cremated at the Mater Temple of Castel Volturno, in the Caserta area; tomorrow, May 25, he would have turned 59.
The arrival of the body at the temple
Accompanied by the Sienese funeral director and the actor’s brother Graham, the body arrived in the consecrated chapel adjacent to the temple at 10:15. To welcome her, Stevenson’s partner, the Italian anthropologist Elisabetta Caraccia, their three children SD (2007), LG (2011) and L. (2013) and a small group of friends. After the blessing rite, officiated by the priest of Castel Volturno Carlo Iadicicco, then replicated live on Skype by a British shepherd, the body was taken to the farewell room for a last farewell; Graham Stevenson asked to be able to watch the initial stages of cremation through the screen installed in the room. In these days, Stevenson was shooting the film “Cassino a Ischia” in Ischia, a film directed by Frank Ciota, which also hosts Ugo Dighero in the cast. During filming, he had suffered an illness; hospitalized urgently, at the “Rizzoli” his conditions immediately appeared serious. The causes of death are not known, although some media speculate a possible anaphylactic shock. His death shocked fans around the world.
