It went out Clelio Guancialea well-known and respected doctor, as well as the actor’s father Linen Pillow. He was 78 years old. The news, initially spread by local news, quickly spread through Abruzzo, finding space in regional newspapers and in the stories of the Marsican communities who for decades knew and respected him as a doctor and as a man.
Who was Clelio Guanciale?
From the testimonies collected in local newspapers, Lino Guanciale’s father is described as a old-time professionalof those who practiced the medicine like a real one missiona quality now rare to find in professionals of his caliber. Always available, attentive to listening, to those who still knew how to look patients in the eye and take charge of the symptoms reported and encountered, together with the fragilities and daily worries. His work did not end in the doctor’s office because it was made up of relationships built over time, of mutual trust with his patients and of a constant presence – as once happened directly within families – especially in the most delicate moments.
They are in particular Avezzano and Collelongo the places that preserve the sign of his passage. In Avezzano he was certainly known for his healthcare activity, but also for a youthful sporting passion that had seen him involved in football at a good level. In Collelongo, the town of origin of the Guanciale family, his name has remained linked to a long history of service and dedication, recognized by generations of patients he treated during his long career.
The bond with Lino Guanciale
Clelio Guanciale’s path is inevitably linked to that of his son Linotoday a well-known face in theatre, cinema and television. In his youth, Lino had also passed the entrance test for medicine, fueling the idea of a natural continuity between father and son. But what seemed like an already marked path took a different direction.
The future actor decided to sign up for Letters and Philosophyand then continued his studies at the Silvio D’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art. A decision that required courage and a direct confrontation with his father. Lino has recounted several times that moment on which his future depended: “My father hoped that I would be a doctor. One evening I told him that I wanted to act. We talked for a long time and, in the end, he replied: okay, tell me how I can help you”.
From that day on, Clelio became a supporter of his choice, despite it being different from his own and somehow breaking a tradition, following his son into the theater and sharing his successes with pride. In addition to Lino, Clelio also leaves Giorgiothe other son, who has taken up the profession of psychotherapist, and three grandchildren.
Farewell to Collelongo
The final farewell to Clelio Guanciale is scheduled for December 31st, at 2.30 pmin the church of San Rocco in Collelongo. A moment of reflection that arrives on the eve of the new year and marks the conclusion of a 2025 is particularly difficult for Lino Guanciale. In fact, the actor also lost his mother Maria Pia, teacher and school director of entire generations of Marsicans, in March 2024.
