Rome is ready to celebrate the arrival of 2026 with dozens of events around the city. 438 thousand tourist arrivals are expected in the Capital, +3.85% on 2024, and over one million presences from 29 December to 3 January. There is anticipation for the Circus Maximus concert for which a special plan has been put in place for safety and mobility.
The concert at the Circus Maximus
The protagonist of December 31st is the Circus Maximus concert with free entry starting from 9.00 pm. Tananai, Fabri Fibra and Alessandra Amoroso will take the stage. 43 thousand spectators are expected to toast the arrival of the new year.
Roads closed for the concert at the Circus Maximus
For the occasion, a cordoned off security area will be established to create four access gates on Via dei Cerchi and Via del Circo Massimo. By today, Wednesday 31 December, the clearing of parked vehicles must be completed, with consequent parking ban, on approximately 50 meters of Viale Aventino, from the height of Via del Circo Massimo in the direction of Piazza Albania, on the side opposite the FAO headquarters. More generally, parking restrictions will affect, many hours before the event, the entire area between via dei Cerchi and via del Circo Massimo.
Events in the city on December 31st
Not just the concert. Rome will be animated by dozens of events of all kinds. From concerts in the square to theatrical performances complete with toasts and, again, family events, music all night long and more. Here is the entire calendar for events organized in the capital. Furthermore, starting from January 1st, a new edition of Capodarte will begin with 100 free events organized in the municipalities of Rome.
We Run Rome 2025
The celebrations will begin as early as the afternoon of December 31st when the 14th edition of the “We Run Rome” running event will take place with a competitive and a non-competitive 10 kilometer race and a non-competitive 5 kilometer race.
The mobility plan
The Rome mobility plan adopted for the holidays remains active until January 6th. On New Year’s Eve, December 31st, the last metro runs will be extended to 2.30 am. As for buses and trams, they will stop at 9pm (time of the last departures from the terminals), but with some exceptions. Here is the complete plan.
To give continuity to the service, from 2.30am until 8am on January 1st (when the entire city transport network will resume running during public holidays), the nMA, nMB, nMB1, nMC and nME bus lines will be on the road, which follow the same routes as the Metromare metro and railway.
Ztl
Precisely for New Year’s Eve, the extraordinary activation of the central ZTL (Centro and Tridente) is planned, which will remain active without breaks from 6.30 in the morning of December 31st to the whole day of January 1st, continuing until 6pm for the Centro ZTL and until 8pm for the Tridente ZTL.
Anti-barrel ordinance
Like every year, the mayor of Rome signed the ordinance to ban the use of barrels throughout the municipal territory. The provision, valid from 00:01 on 31 December 2025 and until 6 January 2026, provides for fines of up to 500 euros for violators. Here is everything you need to know about the bans.
What will the weather be like in the city?
