The Tony Awards red carpet also gave us the appearance of Angelina Jolie with her fifteen-year-old daughter Vivienne. The two arrived together on the red carpet, holding handsto celebrate The Outsidersthe musical (which earned twelve Tony nominations) which they worked on together behind the scenes. The show is in fact produced by Jolie, and Vivienne collaborated as production assistant. Based on the novel by SE Hinton and inspired by the film by Francis Ford Coppola The Boys of 56th Street, The Outsiders it is a very special project for Angelina also due to the presence of her teenage daughter. That, as Jolie admitted, she turned out to be a decidedly inflexible assistant: «she corrected me constantly. She said to me: “Didn’t you read the memo? We have to do this. We need to review this other thing.” She was a very tough assistant. She took this job very, very seriously».

Vivienne is the youngest daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. And thanks to The Outsiders we discovered that she, like almost all her older siblings, has decided to “delete” his father’s surname. In the program of the show, in fact, he appears simply as Vivienne Jolie, instead of Jolie-Pitt. It is unclear, however, whether the name printed on the show’s program reflects an actual legal change of surname by the girl. On this point neither Jolie’s nor Pitt’s spokesperson wanted to comment.

What is certain is that Vivienne is not the first daughter of the former couple to make this choice. The latest one was Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pittwho just turned 18 last May, officially asked to change her surname and be called only Shiloh Jolie. Maddoxthe former couple’s first adopted child, has for years now stopped using the surname Pitt in unofficial documents. On the other hand, the boy – who in 2021 testified against his father in the domestic violence trial brought by Angelina against Brad – would have had a central role in the parents’ decision to separate: Pitt, drunk, allegedly hit him during a plane trip that year and once they landed Jolie would go straight to ask for a divorce. Since then Maddox doesn’t want to know about his dad anymore. After Maddox, Pax also took sides against his father, publishing on the occasion of a Father’s Day Stories vitriol in which he defined it “a bad person”while the daughter Zahara in college she introduced herself only with her maternal surname. However, the intentions of Knox, Vivienne’s twin, currently the most reserved of the former couple’s children, are not yet known.
