Matthew Perry, “killed by high doses of ketamine”. The turning point in the investigation: what’s wrong

New developments in the case of the tragic death of Matthew Perry, which occurred 6 months ago in Los Angeles. The police of the Californian city and the federal anti-drug agency (DEA) have opened a joint investigation to clarify the reasons why such a high quantity of ketamine was found in the body of the 54-year-old actor which, according to the medical examiner’s examination , would have caused his death. The report is from Police Captain Scot Williams in an email.

The investigation aims to ascertain how the star of the ‘Friends’ series could have come into possession of such a dose of this drug. An aide found Perry lying face down in her hot tub on Oct. 28. Paramedics called immediately to help declared him dead. His autopsy, made public in December, found that the amount of ketamine in his blood was similar to that used for general anesthesia during surgery. Ketamine was indicated as the main cause of his death, which was ruled an accident without any suspicion of foul play. People close to the actor told investigators that he had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy. But the medical examiner said Perry’s last treatment, a week and a half before the tragedy, would not explain the levels of ketamine in his blood.

The drug is generally metabolized within a few hours. At least two doctors were treating Perry, a psychiatrist and an anesthesiologist who was acting as his primary care physician, the medical examiner’s report says. No drugs or illicit paraphernalia were found in his home. Perry had drug addiction problems at the time of ‘Friends’, the cult series that made him one of the biggest TV stars of his generation as Chandler Bing alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.
